Richland Municipal Court
JURY DUTY INFORMATION
What happens if I don't show
up when I have been summonsed for jury duty
FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR JURY
SERVICE MAY RESULT IN A $100.00 FINE FOR CONTEMPT OF COURT
Why can't I talk to the
Judge?
The Judge cannot discuss the
merits of a pending judicial proceeding prior to trial (Cannon 3 (5) Code
of Judicial Conduct). The Court Clerk can answer your questions and take
your payments.
What do I do when I have
been called for Jury duty?
Generally, jury service is
for no longer than one day (usually just a couple of hours).
Jury service is an
obligation of citizenship which is essential to the judicial process. It
is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to ensure that
justice is provided in our community. The judge of the Richland Municipal
Court recognizes that jury service entails an imposition on the citizens
called for that service. In order to minimize
the burden caused by your jury service, report promptly at the date and
time indicated and dress appropriately.
